Universal Staffing is seeking reliable and safety-focused DZ Drivers/ Pickers to join our residential waste collection team. This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant collection of garbage, recycling, and yard waste. Drivers and pickers provide high-quality customer service while ensuring proper handling and disposal of waste streams.

Pay: $28.68 per hour + 4% vacation pay
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM start, 10–12 hour shifts (varies by route)
Overtime: Paid after 44 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate residential waste collection trucks (2-person rear trucks or 1-person side loaders)
- Collect yard waste, Blue Box, Green Bin, and residential garbage
- Provide courteous and professional service to residents
- Adhere to collection schedules and municipal regulations
- Deliver collected materials to transfer stations, compost facilities, or landfill sites
- Return emptied waste containers to their original location on resident property
- Lift and load garbage bags or cans up to 50 lbs
- Make 800–900 residential stops per day
- Follow all company, MTO, Ministry of Environment, and municipal safety policies
- Maintain clean and professional interactions with coworkers, management, and the public
Requirements:
- Valid DZ or AZ driver’s license (new drivers welcome)
- Clean CVOR and Driver’s Abstract
- Clean Criminal Record Check (required for interview)
- Good physical condition and ability to perform repetitive lifting (average 800 houses)
- Ability to work 10–12 hour shifts and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must provide CSA-approved safety boots
